Callington Town Band produced their first CD, called 'Echoes From The Hill', to mark their tenth anniversary in 2006.
We were fortunate enough to be able to record the CD in the
comfortable and secluded Echo Centre in Liskeard, and the CD`s title reflects
our appreciation of this facility
Our MD Paul Boase kept us in excellent spirits during a whole day of
intense concentration - to say nothing of musicianship, since one or
two pieces needed more than one `take`, and the players were able to
repeat their performances effortlessly as required.
The session included the backing track of Ian Marshall`s arrangement
for Oboe and Band of the Largo from Dvorak`s New World Symphony, to
which Paul skilfully overdubbed his Oboe part in the Goodmerry Studios
later.
The Band was saddened to learn that Mike
Jacobs, who had been so keen to see the Town Band re-formed,
died before
he was able to hear the CD.
