MD : Bill Leith Bill was born in Aberdeen. He began playing the trumpet while at school, later embarking on an impressive career as an Army bandsman, first with the Gordon Highlanders, and later with the Royal Artillery Mounted Band and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst Band. Bill joined Callington Town Band, playing solo cornet, after retiring to Cornwall in 2002, and later became Bandmaster and conductor of the Training Band. His musical qualifications and pleasant personality made him an obvious and popular choice as the band`s new MD in 2009. We wish him a long and happy future with the band. |
